Doug Calvert, of Mountain View Home Builders, Gainesville, GA has been a custom home builder in the Northeast Georgia area for over 20 years, and has built in excess of 160 homes. During this time he has been involved in all aspects of building, designing, developing, and marketing. He has hands on experience in the physical construction of homes as well as on-site field supervision and project management as a general contractor. His company is licensed as a residential contractor in Georgia. During the past five years, he has taken his company in the direction of sustainable home building, being one of the first builders in his region to become Energy Star and EarthCraft House certified. He is also a Certified Green Professional (CGP) under the NAHB National Green Building Program. Most recently he was appointed chairman for the NAHB National Green Building Conference 2011 in Salt Lake City. He also serves as a member of the NAHB Green Building Committee. Doug has been a certified member of the Southern Living Custom Builder Program since 2008. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Green Building Council.

Doug is also a Georgia Licensed Realtor. Feeling a particular calling to public service, Doug has been elected to public office serving four terms on his local school board. He has been married to wife Jill for 30 years. Jill is a local school teacher. He and Jill have two daughters. Elizabeth, who is a school teacher and Rebecca who is currently attending The University of Georgia. Doug attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Georgia State University. Doug and his family are very active in River Point Community church in Cornelia, Georgia.
