RAY TONJES
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Ray Tonjes, an award winning
and nationally recognized custom home builder, industry leader, energy
efficiency and green building advocate, has practiced his craft for over 26
years. Ray brings his management experience, communication skills and reputation
for fairness and integrity to CDRS in order to serve the industry in a new
capacity.
Ray Tonjes is the President and founder of Ray Tonjes Builder, Inc., a
homebuilding company based in Austin, Texas which specializes in mainstream,
high performance custom homes and renovations.
Ray has been active in the home building industry since 1983 acquiring a
thorough knowledge of cutting edge building practices, including the science &
technology required to provide his clients a quality product. He is well known
within the building industry as reflected by his many leadership positions in
local, state, and national home builder associations.
Ray has been a proponent of energy efficient construction since the energy
crisis of the 1970's. He was instrumental in the development of the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Program, and has addressed
both state and congressional legislative members about green building issues. He
continues to advocate at all levels for the improvement of energy efficiency and
participation in green building programs.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Ray and his wife, Rosemary, made
Austin their home following his service as a pilot with the United States Air
Force (1971-1977).
