GENERAL OVERVIEW

Mr. Ron Meler has been in the construction industry since 1975. He has held management positions for general contractors and private developers in the Southern California area for over twenty-six years. He served as Vice President of Operations for an office averaging annual revenues in excess of 180 million dollars in commercial construction. As Vice President of Operations he was directly responsible for the operations staff and the structural concrete division. The offices operations department at times exceeded 120 employees.

In October 2006 Ron opened RW Meler Consulting, providing consulting services in construction operations, training and dispute resolution. Clients include owners, general contractors and subcontractors. His services include owner representation, construction operations planning and scheduling, project realignment, project team guidance and construction dispute resolution.

He has worked his way through the ranks and held the position of laborer, carpenter, carpenter foreman, project engineer, superintendent, estimator, project manager, senior project manager, project director and operations manager.

Ron has extensive experience in training workshops for the development of employees in the construction industry. He trains and teaches courses in construction ethics, law, contracts, project preplanning and scheduling, estimating, job cost control, customer relations and closeout. His familiarity with current software packages and strong knowledge of construction operation processes is invaluable.

He has personally managed over 70 commercial construction projects. The projects have been diverse, with noted projects such as the Del Mar Grandstand, Sharp Chula Vista Hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Sea World Journey to Atlantis, Remington Retirement Club and Skilled Nursing Facility, lab projects for both Diversa and Cancervax and twenty-five commercial office buildings and tenant improvements.

Ron holds a Journeyman Certificate from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, a Certificate in Construction Practices from SDSU and an active State of California General Building Contractors License.

He is currently teaching Construction Ethics, Law and Contracts at San Diego State University. He is often a guest lecturer for the Construction Management Department at Cal Poly San Lois Obispo and the Certificate Management Programs at the Associated General Contractors of America in San Diego.

Because of Ron’s knowledge and understanding of the industry and construction processes, it allows him to speak from the position of experience.
