Bruce S. Feldacker has nearly 40 years experience as a practicing attorney, as an advocate, and now as a neutral in alternative dispute resolution since 1995. He has served as an instructor in the ADR field at the university and law school levels, and is a frequent lecturer on ADR topics before a broad range of organizations. His practice in the construction field, as an attorney for both labor organizations and jointly administered labor-management trust funds, has given him a broad perspective and knowledge of construction industry law and industry practices including contractor/subcontractor relationships, contractor/owner and construction manager disputes, governmental and regulatory issues, and work-site practices.
Bruce has been licensed as an attorney in Missouri and Illinois since 1965. He participated as an advocate in the arbitration process in literally hundreds of cases involving the administration and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements. Now, as a mediator since the mid-1990’s, he has served as the neutral mediator in over 350 cases involving a broad variety of industries and issues including construction disputes. He has recently completed a special training session in the mediation of contractor/ home owner disputes to serve as a mediator under the recently enacted Missouri statute providing for the mediation of such controversies. As his professional activities indicate, Bruce is highly regarded in the community as a practicing attorney, mediator, and educator.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bruce Feldacker is Current Co-Chair of the American Bar Association, Committee on ADR in Labor and Employment Law, and is a Current Board member of the Association of Missouri Mediators. He is Past Chair of the Labor & Employment Law Section, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He is a member of the American, Missouri, Illinois and St. Louis Bar Associations participating in the ADR and Employment Law committees. He is also a member of the Association of Attorney-Mediators, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Industrial Relations Research Association, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans. As a committee chair, Bruce has organized and participated as speaker in multiple seminars and conferences on employment law and ADR issues
Bruce has served as neutral mediator in more than 350 cases since 1995, including single and multi-party litigation, primarily under the auspices of the United States District Court Eastern District of Missouri mediation program, Pinnacle mediation, St. Louis, Mo., the Alliance for Education in Dispute Resolution (Cornell University), and the EEOC. He has mediated a broad range of disputes including labor and employment law, contract, construction, and general business disputes. He is designated as an Advanced Practitioner in Workplace Mediation by the Association for Conflict Resolution. Bruce chaired the Missouri Bar committee that drafted a model settlement agreement for employment law disputes. He was one of fourteen Missourians selected to participate in a February 2005 seminar program to study dispute resolution techniques in Thailand, sponsored by the Government of Thailand, the University of Missouri, and the United States Department of State.
TEACHING AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Bruce Feldacker has served as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law, St. Louis University Law School, since 1999 teaching a course in employment law. He is also an Adjunct instructor at the Indiana University Division of Labor Studies (since 2001) and Cornell University School of Labor and Industrial Relations (since 1999), teaching internet courses in labor law, civil rights, and the use of ADR to resolve employment disputes. He has previously served as an adjunct instructor at the George Meany Labor Studies Center, Silver Springs, Md. (1980-2000) teaching courses for union officers, shop stewards, and members; for the University of Missouri Law School teaching labor arbitration; for the University of Missouri Labor Extension Service, St. Louis Community College, and Maryville College (St. Louis) Labor Studies programs;
Bruce is a frequent speaker on ADR, labor/employment law, and labor relations topics in seminars and institutions sponsored by the American, Missouri and St. Louis bar associations; the American Arbitration Association; the Industrial Relations Research Association; various colleges; and by other continuing education organizations., before both attorneys and general audiences.
Bruce Feldacker is certified as a Mediator by the United States District Court, Eastern District of Missouri, (October 1994) and the Missouri Supreme Court, (December 1995). He is a Member of the Mediators’ Roster of the Alliance for Education in Dispute Resolution (February 2003); the NASD Arbitrator’s Roster (January 1995) (completed NASD basic and advanced arbitrator training); and the NASD Mediation Roster (August 2003).
